Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide basic supportive care under supervision, documenting vital signs and coordinating with RNs and care managers. The role involves direct patient interaction, safety emphasis, and preparation of materials for procedures in a busy pediatric setting.

The ideal candidate will have a fundamentals nursing course, Ohio CNA certification, and CPR/BLS, with a year of hospital-based patient care experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience.
• Active CNA in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider) required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, documents, and reports vital signs.
• May complete screening questions and minor specimen testing as assigned.
• Promotes patient safety and maintains confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures.
• Prepares materials and supplies as delegated.
• Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Completes continuing education and participates in offered opportunities.
• May act as a preceptor and train other staff.
