Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Nursing Station Technician at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. The role supports the Birthplace NICU with cross-training opportunities and a mix of nursing assistant and health unit coordinator duties on a night shift schedule.

The NST works under the supervision of a professional nurse, assisting with patient care, transport, and unit communications on a fast-paced unit; benefits include medical, dental, and more as part of a comprehensive

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
• OnTrack Nursing Assistant training or Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Six months of direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting.
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation.
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the professional caregiver in delivering patient care, moving patients and equipment, preparing and maintaining patient rooms.
• Perform a range of clerical tasks and maintain the patient care unit desk area.
• Coordinate flow of communication on the unit and support nursing staff as needed.
• Hybrid role combining Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator duties to support patient care and administrative tasks.

Education

Six months of direct care experience

Enrollment in LPN/RN program

Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification

Fairview OnTrack Nursing Assistant program completion
