Job summary

Rio Grande Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, Inc., in McAllen, TX, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Level II NICU PRN unit to provide safe newborn care under supervision. The role emphasizes assessments, care planning, and proper documentation in a fast-paced NICU setting.

Qualified candidates have ADN/RN Diploma, BSN preferred, and BLS/NRP certifications with ongoing certification plans. PRN status with strong teamwork and patient-family communication is expected.

Qualifications

• ADN or RN Diploma required.
• BSN preferred.
• Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
• Current RN license in applicable state(s).
• BLS or BCLS certification accepted.
• NRP certification within 60 days of start date.
• Certifications must be current or obtained within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assess and plan care for newborns under supervision.
• Demonstrate competency in newborn care and delegate appropriately.
• Document assessments, vitals, results, care plans and education.
• Organize equipment and supplies for newborn care.
• Communicate with leadership, physicians and staff to ensure safety and satisfaction.
• Support patient rights for newborns and families under ICARE principles.
• Support quality initiatives (Core Measures, Risk Reduction, Patient Satisfaction).
• Maintain professional appearance and telephone etiquette.
