Job summary

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate patient care in the unit with leadership and independent nursing judgment. The RN will apply growth and development principles and ensure safety and care standards across age groups.

You will collaborate with ancillary staff, deliver evidence-based nursing care, and participate in mentorship and education programs to advance your clinical career within our full-service facility.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN degree required or must be currently enrolled.
  • Current Texas RN license or valid Compact License.
  • 1 year current L&D experience required.
  • Current BCLS Certification.
  • Current ACLS and NRP Certifications Required.
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring course within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes data to identify expected outcomes for the observation and medical/surgical patients
  • Developing and prioritizes the plan of care to attain measurable goals
  • Implements the interventions identified and evaluates the results, especially in relation to Critical Care patients
  • Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning and documents patient/family education
  • Demonstrates critical thought and judgment in the delivery of care related to Critical care patients
  • Delivers medications based upon continual assessment, safety and evaluation of patient response

Job Summary And Qualifications

The registered nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of assigned patients in the Unit in order to provide quality patient care to patients in applicable age specific populations (see addendum). The RN applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Employees are responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the appropriate age populations. According to established facility policies and procedures, the registered nurse provides and supplies professional nursing care exercising independent judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The RN provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on assigned area.

What qualification you will need:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing is required or must be currently enrolled
  • Current RN license in Texas and/or current Compact License
  • 1 year current L&D experience required
  • Current BCLS Certification Required
  • Current ACLS and NRP Certifications Required
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring course within 90 days of hire date
