The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a part-time Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to assist in the NICU Neonatal Intensive Care unit. You will perform basic patient care, help with daily living activities, collect specimens, document activities, and support discharge planning under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include vital signs, hygiene, mobility assistance, feeding support, and maintaining a clean patient environment, while adhering to infection control practices and unit

Qualifications

• High school graduate with ability to read and write, perform simple calculations, follow instructions and work with supervision.
• Must be listed on HCWR as Illinois CNA OR as a nursing student who passed the written competency exam and is listed on HCWR.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively; capable of handling physical tasks.

Responsabilités

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs, enemas and basic tests such as glucoscan, hemacult and multistix.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living using aseptic techniques.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, ambulation and nourishment/fluids.
• Completes procedures such as collecting patient specimens and weighing patients.
• Assists with discharge and transfer preparation of patients.
• Maintains patient environment: makes beds, tidies rooms, prepares for admission/transfer.
• Maintains supplies/equipment and the environment.
• Communicates and documents activities onto records or logs.
• Initiates CPR and calls a Dr.
• Performs receptionist duties for assigned area.

Formation

High school diploma or equivalent

IDPH Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR) in Illinois CNA OR nursing student passed competency and listed on HCWR

CPR/BLS Certification
