Job summary

Connecticut Children’s seeks a Department Clinical Education Specialist to influence professional growth and learner competence. The role may provide direct patient care under supervision and leads education, competency management, and research activities for clinical staff.

Reports to the Nurse Manager and collaborates with interprofessional teams to improve learning outcomes and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required; MSN is preferred.
• Education and experience in Professional Development/education is strongly preferred.
• Experience in adult learning and program development strongly preferred.
• Minimum two years of Perioperative nursing experience, preferably in a pediatric acute care facility.
• CNOR or CPAN required within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes issues, trends, and supporting data to determine learning needs.
• Collects data to validate a gap in professional practice and determine knowledge deficits.
• Identifies desired outcomes of the educational plan.
• Establishes a plan with strategies and resources to achieve outcomes.
• Implements the identified plan and coordinates educational initiatives.
• Provides consultation to influence plans and improve practice.
• Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Maintains current knowledge in nursing and professional development.
