Job summary
HVEA Engineers in the Hudson Valley is seeking NICET certified construction inspectors to perform on-site highway and bridge inspections for NYS DOT Region 8. Candidates should coordinate field inspections and interpret plans while maintaining clear client communications.
Responsibilities include daily reporting, data collection, and QA of various construction activities, with safety oversight for traffic control and site operations. HVEA offers growth opportunities and a strong benefits package.
Qualifications
- NICET Certification or equivalent experience/education required.
- NYSDOT and/or locally administered Federal Aid project experience preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with APPIA or CEES software; NYSDOT Site Manager a plus.
- Ability to read plans and specifications; work independently.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform construction-related on-site inspection activities.
- Review inspections by subconsultants/others when needed.
- Interpret drawings and specifications; communicate test results and progress.
- Prepare daily reports with contractor activities, equipment, and quantities.
- Gather data for checklists and QA of construction activities.
- Review Maintenance and Protection of Traffic; ensure safe work environment.
- Advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments.
