Job description

Job ID: 10472982 | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of Amazon's fastest growing businesses, serving millions of customers in more than 190 countries, reshaping the way global enterprises consume information technology, and powering the developers who are building the next generation of leading global firms.

We are looking for an experienced program manager with a background that includes project management to join our operations team and focus on building the future of onboarding and training for new builders who work in AWS Data Centers. In this role, you will report directly into the local business leadership team and take general direction from a global onboarding program. The ideal candidate will have experience with training management, be a highly organized self-starter with a strong bias for action, be able to work through ambiguity, and have the ability to lead with informal authority. This position will innovate how we design, build, deliver, and measure onboarding and training, which will improve the experience for new AWS Data Center Community builders around the world.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
  • Deeply involved in technical design of the onboarding and learning systems. Manage complex technology initiatives, deliver critical solutions, and drive significant improvements and deploy new mechanisms.
  • Closely partner with all teams within physical infrastructure to 1) stay aligned with process changes and operational updates and 2) coordinate the execution of onboarding training activities.
  • Define, organize, and manage the scheduling, logistics, and administration of cluster and globally planned virtual and in‑person instructor led training and onboarding activities across multiple cross‑functional teams including coordinating volunteer instructors’ schedules.
  • Develop and monitor internal metrics, goals, and key performance indicators to drive continuous improvements to the development and implementation of the end‑to‑end onboarding and training process.
  • Administration and support for Amazon's proprietary web‑based‑training platform related to safety, security, and job critical functions. This includes assigning, designing, enforcing, and troubleshooting emergent issues.
  • Manage frequent, cluster-localized communications touch points with new builders including a combination of emails, frequently asked questions, messaging channels, forums, office hours, tickets, or similar mechanisms.
  • Facilitate employee account creation through collaboration with multiple essential required teams to ensure a seamless customer experience upon arrival. This includes acquiring access levels and ensuring delay‑free badge creation.
  • Play a crucial role in new hire technology onboarding. This includes assisting new hires in setting up laptops, ensuring the installation of essential software, and providing hands‑on guidance for configuring communication tools. Additionally, you will deliver a comprehensive overview of the organization's technological infrastructure, facilitating a seamless transition for new hires into their daily operations.
