Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Senior Geologist for its Carlin operations to support the Mineral Resource Management team. The role involves ore routing oversight, collaboration with multiple departments, and ensuring geological data quality using Deswik and LeapFrog.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Geology, 5+ years of mining experience (exploration 3+ years preferred), and strong safety and communication skills. This is a site-based role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to site safety culture and programs.

• Collaborate with engineering, geotech, hydrology, metallurgy and operations.

• Coordinate with Exploration to align geologic models with data.

Responsibilities

• Provide a strong contribution to the site safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same
• Working under the MRM Leeville Geology Superintendent, responsible for all ore routing within the mine and intimate knowledge of current and upcoming mine plans. (5,000 t/d mine)
• Working with all departments such as engineering, geotech, hydrology, metallurgy, and operations to ensure all ore control tasks are completed safely and of quality.
• Review mine plans to ensure mining optimization.
• Close working relationship with Exploration to ensure that the geologic modeling agrees with mapped geology data
• Logging of diamond core
• Ensure quality of mapped data utilizing Deswik and Leapfrog
• Assist with geological studies as necessary
• Prepare routine reports

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science degree in Geology or related field required
• Excellent safety record required
• Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
• Previous mine operations experience 5+ years preferred
• Previous exploration experience 3+ years preferred
• Familiarity with Deswik, LeapFrog and Acquire software an advantage preferred

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
