Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines, located at the Meikle Mine Site in Carlin, NV, seeks a Geology Core Shed Technician to join the Mineral Resource Management team. You will support safety-driven operations, manage drill core and sample storage, and coordinate shipments to laboratories.

The role requires strong organization, basic math, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, plus the ability to work across multiple tasks and sites in a mining environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental policies and practices is required.
• Maintain a valid State driver’s license for light vehicles is required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities is required.
• Effective organizational and communication skills are required.
• Basic math skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety leadership and safety consciousness.
• Train coworkers in the safe and efficient use of equipment.
• Manage sample inventory and related warehouse material safely.
• Record new materials placed into storage and track storage locations.
• Perform daily inspections and address issues within capabilities.
• Photograph drill core accurately and maintain color fidelity.
• Ensure timely shipments to laboratories and complete forms.
• Know state-wide warehouse locations and travel between sites safely.
• Identify naming/numbering errors in sample handling.
• Read and fulfill material retrieval requests and ship accordingly.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate safety leadership and safety consciousness
• Task train coworkers in the safe and efficient use of equipment
• Ability to manage the sample inventory and related warehouse material, safely, without damage to the people, property, or process
• Makes accurate records of new materials placed into storage. Maintains a full understanding of the storage locations
• Completes periodic daily workplace inspections and corrects problems within individual’s capabilities
• Accurately photographs drill core ensuring natural colors and minimal distortion
• Ensures timely shipments to laboratories and accurately completes required forms
• Demonstrate knowledge of state-wide warehouse locations and the ability to travel to and from these sites safely, while adhering to site safety and protocols
• Ability to identify naming and numbering errors in sample handling procedures
• Ability to read and understand material retrieval requests, collect these materials and ship accordingly.
