Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines in Elko, NV, seeks a Project Controller - Cost Control to monitor, control, and report the financial performance of mining projects. You will ensure delivery within budget through accurate estimates, forecasts, and analyses while collaborating with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in project controls within mining or heavy industry, with expertise in SAP or Primavera P6, and a proven ability to drive cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining, civil, finance or accounting or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in project controls or cost management.
• Experience in mining or heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
• Proficient with SAP or Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cost control plans.
• Monitor project costs, track variances, and provide detailed reporting.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams.
• Perform cost risk analysis, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
• Review and approve contractor invoices and change orders.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc management reports.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and standards.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements.
• Support audits and financial reviews related to project costs.
• Other duties as required.

This role monitors, controls, and reports the financial performance of mining projects, ensuring delivery within budget through accurate cost estimates, forecasts, and analyses. Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cost control plans in alignment with project scope and schedule.
• Monitor project costs, track variances, and provide detailed financial reporting and analysis.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure timely collection and validation of cost data.
• Perform cost risk analysis, trend forecasting, and scenario modeling to support project decisions.
• Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and other project-related expenditures.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc management reports for senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvements, and efficiency enhancements.
• Assist in audits and financial reviews related to project costs.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field required
• 5-10 years of experience in project controls, cost control, or financial management within the mining or heavy industrial sectors preferred
• Strong understanding of mining project cost structures, budgeting, and financial reporting required
• Proficiency in project controls software (e.g., SAP, Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent) required
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams required
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment preferred
