Job description

Our Next Generation Pastor will be the face of youth ministry for grades 6-12; building relationships, planning, directing, and running ministry events for our teenagers. In addition, the Next Generation Pastor will provide pastoral oversight for ages pre-kindergarten to 5th grade, ensuring consistency and cohesion as kids transition from grade to grade, school to school, and set them up for confident lifelong discipleship to Jesus.

Specific Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership for next generation ministries aligned with 3VC’s discipleship vision.
  • Develop and implement pathways for spiritual growth and discipleship for the next generation.
  • Oversee and direct our Children's Ministry (grades 5 and under).
  • Identify, recruit, equip, and support volunteers to build relationships and make disciples of the next generation.
  • Provide spiritual and professional growth for volunteers in Next Generation ministries.
Shepherding
  • Lead and coordinate youth ministry for students in grades 6–12.
  • Cultivate meaningful pastoral relationships with students, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Provide pastoral care to students and families.
  • Develop parent partnership strategy that provides support and resources for spiritual formation at home.
  • Facilitate youth involvement in worship, mission, outreach, and service.
  • Utilize age-appropriate environments and programs including retreats, camps, and mission trips that support faith development.
  • Develop student leadership pathways and support transitions into adult discipleship and church membership.
Administrative/Logistical
  • Actively communicate plans, events, and initiatives with the church.
  • Partner with other church ministries to foster intergenerational ministry where appropriate.
  • Develop and manage the budget for Next Generation ministries.
  • Select, implement, and evaluate curriculum for Next Generation ministries.
  • Manage volunteer onboarding, including interviewing, background clearances, scheduling, and communication.
  • Manage communication with parents and families.
  • Maintain accurate contact and attendance data.

  • Pursue opportunities to network with other children’s/youth ministry leaders for support and growth.
  • Stay informed on best practices and resources related to children and youth spiritual formation.
  • Maintain active church membership and attendance.

Education and Experience
  • Preference but not requirement for a Master’s Degree in an area of Christian ministry.
  • Two or more years hands‑on experience ministering to teenagers.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in children’s and/or youth ministry, including team development and volunteer leadership.
Compensation
  • Salary $55,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience.
