WFTV Orlando, part of Cox Media Group, seeks an Assignment Editor to lead daily news planning and coverage coordination across broadcast, digital and social platforms. This role requires exceptional judgment, strong communication, and logistics expertise to meet tight deadlines.

The editor will collaborate with reporters, photographers and producers, oversee assignment updates in iNews, and steer coverage priorities with newsroom leadership.

Qualifications

• 2+ years on a newsroom assignment desk or similar role in a major market
• Exceptional news judgment and ability to quickly assess events
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with deadlines

Responsabilités

• Identify, assign, and coordinate coverage for all platforms (broadcast, digital, social)
• Attend daily editorial meetings and track assignments in newsroom systems
• Dispatch crews and manage logistics for live coverage
• Maintain accurate story information and contacts in the assignment desk system
• Communicate with broadcast and digital producers, field crews, and managers
• Coordinate with affiliates and partners across the country to align coverage
