Overview

Reporting to the Newsroom Manager, the Newsroom Anchor is charged with writing, delivering, and producing local K-LOVE market news reports in a timely, fresh, and professional manner. During times of national crisis, the Newsroom Anchor may also be called upon to deliver network branded newscasts. Additionally, this position performs Newsroom administration to include, but not limited to, maintenance of News pages on respective websites and completion of other Newsroom assignments.

Here's some of what you will be doing:

  • Responsible for research, interviews, images, writing and voicing of branded stories as assigned. Attach story content to web site news pages and social media platforms as directed.
  • Responsible for research, writing and voicing of local news breakaways as directed by Newsroom Manager.
  • Maintain awareness of local developments in K-LOVE & Air1 markets that might warrant local breakaway newscasts.
  • Research, write, gather audio, voice, record, and ready for SUI (Satellite User Interface) as appropriate.
  • If needed, prepare to share story content on web site news pages and social media platforms.
  • While this position offers a stable weekday Mon-Fri shift, the Newsroom Anchor may be asked to fill a weekend shift during times of sickness or vacation periods for existing weekend staff. In addition, times of national crisis may also require fulfilling a weekend shift(s).
  • Perform duties as assigned.

Here's some experience we are seeking:

  • Bachelors’ Degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • 3-5 plus years’ related experience in the broadcast and digital news industry and or training or equivalent combination of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively write and deliver on-air self-generated copy for news programming and branded news story segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep pace with flexible newsroom environment.
  • Strong computer and desktop audio editing skills.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.
