Job summary

Nexstar Media Group Inc. in Bakersfield seeks a Newscast Director to oversee live and recorded broadcasts, coordinating all technical operators during newscasts and ensuring smooth program flow.

You will supervise staff, train camera and CG operators, coordinate with engineering and production, switch video sources in real time, and test equipment to maintain high-energy, clean broadcasts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in news operations and production.
  • Proficiency with office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, scanners, fax).
  • Proficiency with broadcast control equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and live/recorded productions.

  • Observe pictures through monitors and direct camera/video staff on composition.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering and production departments.
  • Work with news producers to deliver a clean and high-energy newscast.

  • Test equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:
