VERSANT Media in Washington, DC, is seeking a Standards Manager to support the DC bureaus of MS NOW and CNBC, upholding the highest ethical standards and safeguarding credibility across cable and digital platforms.

You will collaborate with journalists, editors, and producers to ensure accuracy, fairness, and transparent storytelling, review scripts and content in real time, and adapt practices to the evolving media landscape.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in journalism across broadcast, cable, digital or print.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. government agencies and how they operate.
  • Proficient in all forms of storytelling on traditional and emerging platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across all levels.
  • Willing to adapt to new approaches to content and storytelling.
  • Exceptional news and editorial judgment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement editorial policies across digital, broadcast, and streaming platforms.
  • Provide real-time guidance on breaking news to ensure accuracy and ethics.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, and producers to uphold standards.
  • Review digital texts, social video, podcasts and promos.
  • Review scripts for MS NOW and CNBC and guide as shows air.
  • Ensure accuracy and fairness while following best practices.
  • Advise on editorial decisions during breaking news to minimize risk.
  • Coordinate with legal and rights clearance when needed.
  • Support corrections, retractions, and responses to complaints.
  • Monitor misinformation threats affecting the organization.
  • Participate in weekend on-call duties monthly.
