Job summary

WGAL News 8 is seeking a strong News Producer to craft compelling, fast-paced newscasts with a strategic plan and clear communication. You will write, edit, and shape stories while coordinating with anchors and reporters to deliver impactful broadcasts.

You will drive digital and social coverage, helping extend our Coverage You Can Count On brand across platforms. Evening, holiday and weekend availability is required.

Job description

WGAL News 8, the NBC affiliate in the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York, PA market, is looking for a strong, take-charge News Producer who knows how to create memorable newscasts. The right candidate will have a track record of being creative and aggressive, with the ability to make decisions and communicate a strategic plan in a clear, concise manner. We expect excellent news judgment and a can-do attitude. Candidates must be fast, calm under pressure and eager to grow in their craft. The successful candidate will know how to use digital/social media to find great stories as well as to contribute to all platforms.

Job Responsibilities

• Selecting, researching, and writing content for live newscasts to further the "Coverage You Can Count On" brand of WGAL News 8.
• Working with reporters and photojournalists to develop highly visual stories in assigned newscasts.
• Communicating, coordinating, and executing creative vision with a team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photojournalists, editors, digital producers, and production staff.
• Contributing content to our station's digital and social platforms on a regular basis.

• Must be available to work holidays, shifts that include nights, weekends and overnights, and flexible with schedule to be available during breaking news.

Required Experience

• Previous producing experience preferred.
• Experience with ENPS preferred.

Education

• College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field preferred
• Military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) with associated producing experience will be strongly considered.
