Sinclair is seeking an experienced, hands-on News Director to lead one of the strongest local newsrooms with a bold style and a focus on accountability reporting. The role also involves collaborating with sales managers to identify new sponsorship opportunities.

The position requires managing budgets, directing staff producing 50+ hours of local news weekly, and driving content strategy across platforms while maintaining editorial standards and brand integrity.

Qualifications

• Must have a journalism degree and a minimum of five years experience in news management with noted leadership skills.
• Must have working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel, and privacy laws.
• Strong fiscal experience for operational and capital expenditures.
• Ability to manage multiple hours of daily newscasts on two stations with a proven track record.

Responsibilities

• Manage the station’s news operations, set budgets, establish goals and direct staff producing 50+ hours of local news weekly.
• Initiate and manage growing content delivery on multiple platforms.
• Work with local and corporate management to set News content, philosophy and direction.
• Review daily newscasts for quality control, brand compliance, and provide feedback to staff.
• Recruit, hire and negotiate contracts for news department personnel.
• Collaborate with managers to develop marketing plans and reach ratings goals.
