Job summary

The CNN News Associate program is a hands-on rotational position designed to give early career journalists exposure and help develop their journalistic skills.

Participants will be based in Atlanta for 12 months, rotating through 3–4 assignments across CNN’s Atlanta Headquarters. You’ll build editorial and production skills, work with CNN’s assignment desks, chase stories, and collaborate with reporters and producers. This is a full-time, office or hybrid role with varied schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, political science, or related studies; graduation by January 2027 or within two years post-graduation.
• Internship in a news environment or newsroom experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and strong curiosity for current events and industry trends.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure and in a team, in person or hybrid.
• Be agile, flexible, and able to work with multiple teams.
• Attention to detail and a creative mindset.
• Microsoft Office proficiency, including Outlook.
• Bi-lingual skills are highly valued.
• Writing skills must meet a basic proficiency level.

Responsibilities

• Research, log, and write stories with editorial leads.
• Monitor sources including other networks and social media for newsgathering.
• Record video and upload images; document who, why, what, and where.
• Research and fact-check news scripts and digital stories.
• Assist producers and correspondents in story production.
• Identify and pitch diverse voices in storytelling and newsgathering.
