Job summary

Sinclair, Inc. is seeking an aggressive News Assignment Editor to lead daily coverage, coordinate crews, and develop enterprise stories. You’ll write for multiple newscasts, manage assignments, and post content to our website and social channels.

The role requires adjusting quickly under pressure, building trusted contacts, and maintaining newsroom standards. A journalism degree is preferred, with at least one year on an assignment desk.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year on assignment desk.
• Commitment to journalistic ethics and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with basic computer tools and newsroom software.
• Solid understanding of local, national, and world news.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, and social media trends.

Responsibilities

• Assign and track news crews.
• Identify and develop daily content ideas.
• Write and post content to station website and social media.
• Produce compelling and accurate writing for newscasts.
• Monitor scanners, react to breaking news and beat checks.
• Develop and maintain contacts and sources for enterprise stories.
• Support efficient operations of the assignment desk.
