Job summary

WAFB-TV, the dominant CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, is seeking a primary news anchor to lead our flagship newscasts and uphold the high standards our viewers expect. We are looking for a strong, credible on-air leader who can drive excellence not only on linear TV, but across all platforms, including digital.

Anchoring duties include delivering confident, accurate moments, leading breaking news and major events across TV, streaming, web, and social.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated on-air anchoring experience; main/lead evening anchoring preferred.
  • Strong news judgment and ethics with a calm presence under pressure.
  • Excellent writing and script-editing skills (AP style).
  • Comfortable appearing on and creating content for multiple platforms, including digital and social.
  • Professional, approachable demeanor and commitment to representing the station publicly.
  • Team-first collaborator with high standards for accuracy and accountability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications (or equivalent experience).
