Job summary

Apple Valley News Now seeks an innovative News Anchor/MMJ to anchor local newscasts and create distinctive journalism across broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms. This role is based at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington.

The candidate will report with accuracy and empathy, adapt stories for each platform, and connect with viewers during breaking news and in-depth reporting across all media. This is a full-time, public-service newsroom role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of experience as a multimedia journalist, reporter or anchor.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Ability to anchor from studio and report in the field and live.
• Strong writing for broadcast, digital and AP style.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts, live reports, and breaking-news coverage.
• Research, shoot, write, edit and deliver local stories across platforms.
• Create platform-native content for mobile and social.
• Turn daily reporting into digital stories with headlines, captions.
• Develop enterprise stories about the Yakima/Tri-Cities region.
• Use editorial judgment and uphold ethics and libel standards.
• Collaborate with producers and newsroom leadership.
• Engage with community online and in person.
• Participate in producing newscasts and newsroom duties.
• Operate cameras and editing software to produce visuals.
