Apple Valley News Now in Kennewick, Washington, seeks an innovative News Anchor/MMJ to anchor local newscasts and create distinctive journalism across broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms. This role is based at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, WA.

The right candidate is a trusted on-air communicator with versatility to report accurately and empathetically, adapting stories for each platform and audience. You are comfortable with breaking news and engaging viewers.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as multimedia journalist, reporter or anchor.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Ability to anchor professionally from the studio and report in the field and live.
• Strong broadcast, digital and AP Style writing skills.
• Tell clear, engaging stories with video, sound, text and social-first formats.
• Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of journalism ethics, accuracy standards and libel law.
• Collaborative, self-directed with excellent organization and daily deadlines.
• Curiosity about changing audience habits and enthusiasm for learning new tools, formats and platforms.
• Experience with Inception and Adobe is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts, live reports, breaking-news coverage and briefs with credibility and personality.
• Research, pitch, shoot, write, edit and deliver original local stories for TV, web, streaming and social.
• Create platform-native content including vertical video and live social updates.
• Turn daily reporting into timely digital stories, video, headlines and audience updates.
• Enterprise compelling stories reflecting regional people and issues.
• Uphold journalism ethics, accuracy and libel standards.
• Collaborate with producers, digital staff and newsroom leadership on strong presentation for each story.
• Engage with the community online and in person to source ideas.
• Produce newscasts and other newsroom tasks as directed by the news director.
• Operate TV news cameras, mobile devices, editing software and production apps.
