Spectrum is offering a part-time internship for Syracuse University Newhouse Study Away students in NYC or LA during Spring 2027. You’ll join Spectrum News teams, contribute to live shows, digital content, and newsroom operations, while balancing class schedules.

Gain hands-on experience in reporting, producing, editing, and audience engagement across broadcast, digital, and social platforms, with mentorship and exposure to multiple tracks including MMJ, editorial development, and sports content.

An exclusive opportunity for students participating in Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications Study Away programs in New York City or Los Angeles for the Spring 2027 semester.

A part-time internship where you'll work with a Spectrum News team, contributing to meaningful projects while learning how journalism comes together in some of the nation's most influential media markets. Your schedule will be organized around your academic program requirements and business needs.

The Spectrum Internship Experience

Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications.
• Must be participating in a Newhouse Study Away Program in New York City or Los Angeles during the internship term.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

Program Eligibility

This internship opportunity is exclusively available to students enrolled in an official Syracuse University Newhouse Study Away Program. Applicants must be actively participating in the Newhouse NYC or Newhouse LA program during the semester in which the internship takes place.

A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $18.00 and $21.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
