Job summary

Lawyers for Justice, P.C.® seeks an Associate Attorney in New York to support wage-and-hour, class and representative actions for plaintiffs against diverse employers. You will research, draft pleadings and motions, and assist with depositions under supervision.

Ideal candidates are licensed in New York with 1–3 years in civil litigation, familiar with discovery, motions, and court appearances, and willing to travel as needed. A strong organizer with client communication skills will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York or pending admission to the New York Bar.
• 1–3 years of experience in civil litigation, including discovery, motions and court appearances.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage-and-hour cases is a plus.
• Must be able to travel on occasion.

Description

The Associate Attorney will support and assist in the representation of clients in state and federal plaintiff's-side wage-and-hour, class, and representative action litigation against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses; assisting with deposition preparation and attendance; preparing for and appearing at court hearings; and communicating with clients under the guidance of senior attorneys. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is a licensed attorney who is organized, professional, eager to learn, and committed to achieving strong outcomes for our clients.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be either (a) licensed to practice law in New York (b) already licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction and pending admission to the New York Bar.
• The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in New York and have 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation, including experience with discovery in the civil litigation context, oral advocacy and appearing in Court, motion practice and taking/defending depositions.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage and hour litigation is a plus.
• Candidates must be able to travel on occasion.
