Job summary

Sugarbush Resort seeks enthusiastic ski-and-ride instructors for the Sugarbush Ski and Ride School. Join a top eastern program, work with expert instructors, and help guests of all ages enjoy winter on varied terrain. Training is provided, with opportunities for growth and a supportive team environment.

Full and part‑time slots exist, with a 20‑day minimum winter schedule. Starting pay is $18 per hour and increases with instructor certifications, plus resort benefits and employee perks.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years old and able to stand/walk on snow for extended periods.
• Intermediate skier/snowboarder with parallel or linking turns on groomed blue terrain.
• Previous teaching/coaching/mentoring or ski/snowboard instructor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uphold safety on varied terrain in winter conditions and high‑pressure moments.
• Attend morning meetings and arrive prepared for duties.
• Supervise and assist children in class, including lunch and snack times.
• Instruct levels clearly and accurately per the Instructor Guide progressions.
• Provide a safe, fun learning environment with strong class handling.
• Assist in loading children on chairlifts and supporting Kids on Lifts policy.
• Support operations of children’s programs and maintain teaching areas and facilities.
• Communicate lesson content/progress to guardians and return children to guardians.
• Uphold Vermont Skier Safety Act rules and company guidelines.

This job starts at $18 per hour and increases with completed instructing certifications.Job Specifications:Skill Level: Non-Certified or CertifiedShift Availability: Full-TimeRESPONSIBILITIES :Uphold the highest levels of safety on varied terrain in a mountain environment, with unpredictable winter weather conditions in a fast paced, potentially high-pressure environment.Arrive to work on time prepared for all duties.Attend morning meetings.Supervise and assist the children in your class at all times including during lunch and snack times.Clearly and accurately instruct assigned levels, physically and verbally, per the progressions in our Instructor Guide.Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity.Assist lift attendants to properly load and unload children on the chairlift, lifting children by the vest (if applicable) in accordance with our Kids on Lifts policy.Assist in operational responsibilities of children’s programs including registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.Communicate child’s lesson content and progress of the lesson with the identified guardian.Ensure the return of children to their identified guardians.Uphold Company guidelines and the Vermont Skier Safety Act rules and regulations.QUALIFICATIONS :Must be at least 16 years old.Must be intermediate skier/snowboarder, parallel or linking turns on groomed blue terrain.Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring and/or previous ski or snowboard instructor experience.Experience working with children.Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.PSIA/AASI Level I, Level II or Level III Certification is preferred.USSA Certifications preferred.Prior ski racing, freestyle background is a plus.Considerations give to uncertified candidates with good skiing/riding skills, good communications skills, and enthusiasm for the sport with a passion for passing that on to others.Available to work holidays and weekends - calendar and scheduling requirements for new & returning staff.Successfully complete mandatory on snow training.Must be able to stand and walk on snow for extended periods of time.
