Dynamic Robotics Manufacturer seeks a NPI Mechanical Technician for an onsite 6-month contract with possible extensions. This person must have 6 years of hands-on mechanical and technical expertise within industries like robotics, automotive, motorsports, aerospace, etc. Ideal candidate will have a history of working to assemble, troubleshoot, and service complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems to include developing processes, tooling, and fixturing. This person must have basic CAD (Catia or SolidWorks) user experience to open assemblies and design tooling and fixturing. Opportunity offers a contract working for an innovative tech organization that provides free lunch, parking, and happy hour Fridays, just west of Boston. US Citizen and Green Card work authorization are required. Individual will be eligible to work as W2 Consultant with or without benefits. No 3rd party inquiries please.

Requirements

• Ability to work as W2 employee, meaning no 1099 consultants.
• 6+ years’ experience performing technical hands-on mechanical work within industries to include robotic, aerospace, automotive, etc.
• Expertise in assembling, troubleshooting, and servicing complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience developing processes, tooling and fixturing for the assembly of first article prototype builds.
• Ability to execute high level project objectives quickly and autonomously.
• Experience in CAD (Catia/SolidWorks), using this to open assemblies and design tooling and fixturing.
• Expertise prototyping cable assembly and routing to include soldering, crimping and overmolding, a nice to have, but not required.
• Fabrication (welding and machining) is a plus along with experience working in electronics and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Conducting initial build of complex prototype mechanical assemblies like custom electric actuators, mechanisms, and structures for robotic systems.
• Creating test plans and procedures with minimal engineering guidance.
• Identifying detailed and nuanced mechanical issues and recommending corrective actions to design engineers.
• Developing, designing and documenting detailed assembly processes and work techniques.
• Planning and designing tooling and fixtures for assembly and test using mechanical CAD (Catia/ SolidWorks).
• Designing and implementing modifications of prototype robotics components to improve functionality.
• Consulting as member of robotics engineering team throughout the design of new platforms.
• Identifying, planning, and executing opportunities to contract manufacturing within prototype systems to improve production methods for prototype build volumes.
• Iterating and improving upon prototype designs in collaboration with design engineers to progress designs from initial phase into reproducible assemblies with good quality control.
• Planning lab equipment, tools and workspace coordination with managers and engineers ensuring accessibility to environment and equipment needed to accomplish project goals for robot prototype creation.
• 6-month contract with potential extension or conversion into permanent.
