Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated nurse to provide compassionate, high-quality hemodialysis therapy within a health care team in Lima, Ohio. The role includes vascular access evaluations, patient monitoring, and documentation in health records, under supervision as licensure progresses.

Responsibilities encompass pre-/post-dialysis assessments, machine setup, blood/dialysate control, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in treatment areas, with travel between facilities possible.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months.
• Must obtain nursing license within 90 days of employment.
• Work under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while pursuing licensure.
• Ability to handle demanding situations, multitask, and remain flexible to changing needs.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Ability to take Ishihara Color Blindness test; accommodations available if needed.
• Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, ambulation, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• May travel between facilities, locations, and meetings as needed.

• Perform pre-treatment vascular access evaluations.
• Perform and document pre- and post-dialysis evaluations, weights, and vital signs.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties or unusual findings.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed blood-flow and dialysate-flow orders.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide prescribed or directed interventions.
• Monitor patient responses to dialysis therapy.
• Perform treatment discontinuation, venous-access termination, hemostasis, dressing, and discharge procedures.
• Document treatment information and patient responses in health records and clinical applications.
• Report significant information or changes in patient condition to the nurse supervisor.
• Obtain prescribed laboratory tests and prepare, label, store, and arrange courier collection of specimens.
• Prepare dialysis machines, conduct setup and testing, and disinfect equipment and treatment areas.
• Maintain safe, clean, and environmentally sound treatment areas.
• Review health care records and correct omissions or incomplete entries.
• Prepare laboratory requisitions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must work under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while working toward obtaining a nursing license
• Ability to handle demanding situations, multitask, and remain flexible to changing needs
• Regular and punctual attendance
• Ability to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; failing does not preclude employment and reasonable accommodations will be considered
• Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
