Timmons Group is seeking an entry-level Civil Project Engineer I for our Charlottesville, VA office. The candidate will work on Land Development and Traffic Analysis & Planning groups, performing design work, field observations, and collaboration with clients and the internal team.

Responsibilities include creating design details, completing calculations, and contributing to cost estimates and technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain.
• Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D desired.
• Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for transportation projects.

Timmons Group is currently seeking entry level candidates for the following groups:

• Land Development


• Traffic Analysis & Planning

Essential duties and responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Design project components usingAutoCAD Civil 3Dand other industry-standard software.


• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems


• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols.


• Work to complete design details and plan sets


• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff


• Collaborate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff


• Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports that drive project success.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• A bachelor’s or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in land development, and/or water resources


• EIT


• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D


• Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is for transportation positions

Compensation:Our entry level salary for this position beginning in May 2027 will be $80,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. There may be flexibility on salary for experienced candidates. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.
