Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility to practice per Maryland Board of Nursing (Compact state)
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with ADN or BSN (or higher)
  • Must pass NCLEX within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required; Red Cross BLS acceptable for new hires
  • Specialty life support certifications required based on unit assignment (within 6 months or orientation completion)
  • ACLS for nurses in adult critical care; PALS for neonatal/pediatric care as applicable

Responsibilities

  • The CN I role is designed for new graduates or nurses with <12 months of clinical experience; participates in Nurse Residency Program and departmental orientation to achieve practice readiness
  • Provides direct patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team while adhering to UMMS Mission, Vision, and Values
