Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and at each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and document the administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient for therapeutic response, and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs to resolve them.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about their condition, treatment plan, medications, and potential side effects, translating complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Johnston‑Willis Hospital is a year‑long paid program designed to give you hands‑on experience, helping you transition from student nurse to registered nurse.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Travel may be required for training.
