Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking an RN Resident for the G81 unit, a specialty surgical step-down and general medical unit. You will work directly with patients, families and visitors, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare setting while growing as a registered nurse.

The one-year Nurse Residency offers nine tracks, including online modules, simulation lab and hands-on training. Residents rotate day and night shifts (7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Current state RN licensure.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification through AHA or Red Cross upon hire or first year of employment.
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience or transition from non-inpatient to acute direct care.

• Interact directly with patients, families, and visitors.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care.

The G81 unit on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus presents a unique opportunity to caregivers, as the unit is both a specialty surgical step-down unit and a general medical unit. G81 encompasses an 8-bed ENT/Plastics specialty step-down unit and a 24-bed unit with a specialty focus in Internal Medicine. The patients we see present a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia and sepsis. Many of our patients have complex multi-system failure issues.

As an RN Resident, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. All the while, you will continue growing as an RN and gaining extensive hands-on experience in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving healthcare setting.

A caregiver in this position works rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.Document in patients’ medical records

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross upon hire or first year of employment
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
