Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS is hiring for a New Grad Vizient/AACN Residency RN.

The role focuses on coordinating safe patient care, assessing needs, and developing care plans for diverse populations, under Nurse Director guidance. Responsibilities include care coordination with the health care team, medication reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

  • Current Kansas RN Licensure or will obtain by February 2026.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Telemetry, ICU and PCU require ACLS and Post Surg require Chemo; completed within the first year of employment.
  • 2-year degree is required.
  • Specific certifications are required within one year of hire.
  • Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse coordinates safe patient care delivery for specified and diverse patient populations.
  • The RN assesses patient/family needs, develops and prioritizes goals, and revises the plan of care to meet needs.
  • The RN adheres to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collects and analyzes patient health data through comprehensive assessment.
  • Identifies and prioritizes patient/family needs across biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational aspects.
  • Develops and evaluates plan of care and coordinates care delivery with the healthcare team to ensure safe, age-appropriate care.
  • Demonstrates competence in unit duties and engages patient/family in care delivery.
  • Conducts medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, discharge or per outpatient setting.
  • Ensures safe and quality care by identifying patient-specific risk factors.

Responsibilities
  • The Registered Nurse works under the direction of the Nurse Director/Manager and is responsible for coordination of safe patient care delivery for specified and diverse patient populations.
  • The RN assesses patient/family needs, develops and prioritizes patient goals, evaluates care delivery, and continually revises the plan of care to meet the biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational needs of the patient/family. The RN delegates care as appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.
  • The RN adheres to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collects and analyzes patient health data through comprehensive assessment.
  • Identifies and prioritizes patient/family biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational needs.
  • Develops and evaluates plan of care based on patient need priorities.
  • Coordinates care delivery with other healthcare team members and departments to ensure safe, age appropriate, culturally aware care, and optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrates competence in service specific clinical skills and compliance with unit/department required duties.
  • Engages and involves the patient/family in the care delivery process.
  • Conducts medication reconciliation on admission, at transfer, and at discharge or as prescribed for outpatient setting.
  • Ensures safe and quality care for patients through identification of patient specific risk factors (i.e. risk for falls, risk for skin breakdown, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Current Kansas RN Licensure or will obtain by February 2026.
