Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH is seeking a staff RN for the J82 step-down unit within the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. The position involves caring for heart, vascular and thoracic patients on day/night rotations (7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am) with every other weekend and holidays, under supervision to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited nursing degree (Diploma/ADN/BSN), current Ohio RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS within the first year

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
New grad or less than one year RN experience, or transitioning from non‑inpatient to acute inpatient care.
ACLS certification required upon or within first year of hire in critical care.

Responsibilities

Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity, patient preference, resources).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate corrective action.
Seek supervision and assistance when unable to perform safely.
Document in patients’ medical records.
