Job Summary

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center provides a year‑long, paid program that facilitates the transition from student nurse to registered nurse through a formalized series of learning experiences:

• Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
• Monthly educational sessions
• Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
• Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands‑on simulations
• Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
• Collaborative evidence‑based practice project work

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document administration of care in a timely and thorough manner
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient for therapeutic response, notify provider and intervene as appropriate in case of unintended response
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving them proactively
• Teach patients, families and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects and follow‑up measures; translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within one year of employment
• Other certifications may be required during employment
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state
• No previous experience required
• Some travel may be needed for training
