Job summary

Mercy is seeking an RN for the ICU Stepdown unit to provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg. You will assess and implement individualized nursing care, perform careful handoffs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post‑ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
