Job summary

Nominal is seeking a full-time product designer who is graduating in 2027 or sooner. You will own design work for defined features, collaborate with engineering and product teams, and help bring new capabilities to life for complex hardware systems from rockets to spacecraft.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrates strong visual design fundamentals and product thinking.
• Graduating in 2027 or sooner and seeking a full-time product design role as a new graduate or early-career designer.
• Ability to translate a user problem into clear flows, detailed interface designs, and prototypes.
• Ability to explain design decisions and refine them based on feedback, user needs, and technical constraints.
• Initiative to clarify unfamiliar problems and collaborate to move work forward.

Responsibilities

• Turn complexity into clarity by translating high-frequency hardware and data workflows into intuitive product experiences.
• Design alongside real users by partnering with engineers and customers to understand workflows and pain points.
• Prototype with AI and contribute to product improvements and features.
• Own the design of defined features from exploration through implementation, clarifying scope and tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine interactions and deliver usable experiences.
• Evolve our design system by contributing reusable patterns and components for consistency.
• Share work early and use customer insights to inform product decisions.
