Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS is seeking December Nurse Graduate to join the Children’s of Mississippi Float Pool. Nurses who are board eligible may work under the direct supervision of an RN and progress toward licensure in Mississippi.

The role focuses on direct and indirect patient care across inpatient/outpatient units, with orientation to unit procedures and responsibilities, and gradual responsibility toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing/Diploma.
• All nurse graduates must obtain a valid nursing license within 120 days of hire.
• Board-eligible graduates may work under direct supervision until licensed.

Responsibilities

• Records vital signs, intake, outputs, pulse oximetry and weights accurately and reports changes to RN.
• Assists and prepares patients for treatment, exams, and procedures as directed by RN.
• Administers and performs baths and basic hygiene measures as directed by RN.
• Assists with collection and delivery of specimens to labs.
• Weighs, lifts, turns, and repositions patients with proper body mechanics.
• Submits proper patient charges for supplies/equipment and reports equipment needs.
• Assists in serving dietary trays and feeding patients as needed.
• Provides and documents care based on patient’s age and development level.
• Adheres to infection control policy.
• Attends continuing education/in-service programs.
