Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center invites nurse graduates eligible for licensure to join the Cardiac Step-Down/Post-Op unit 5C on the Main Campus in Jackson. Under RN supervision, graduates will provide direct and indirect patient care as competency is demonstrated during orientation and per unit policy.

Acceptance requires an ADN or higher and licensure within 120 days of hire, with ongoing training to achieve Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs, intake, outputs, pulse oximetry and weights accurately.
• Assist and prepare patients for treatment, exams and procedures.
• Administer baths and basic hygiene per RN direction.
• Assist with specimen collection and delivery to labs.
• Weigh, lift, turn, and reposition patients with proper body mechanics.
• Submit proper patient charges for supplies and report equipment issues.
• Assist with serving dietary trays and feeding.
• Provide care based on patient age and development.
• Adhere to infection control policy.
• Attend continuing education/in-service programs.
