Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Environmental Services practice in Englewood, CO. The role leads a civil engineering and construction planning program for transmission line repair and reconstruction, combining management, technical leadership, client engagement, and mentorship.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in civil engineering, a PE license, 7+ years of experience (consulting preferred), and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license required and must be current.
• Minimum 7 years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related civil design tools.
• Experience leading design and construction projects from planning through close-out.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients, regulators, and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering project teams with technical direction and quality reviews.
• Apply civil engineering principles, codes, and procedures to deliverables.
• Collaborate on land use planning, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee resource forecasting, schedules, budgets, and staffing.
• Review production drawings and bid packages for design compliance and constructability.
• Assist with project scope, schedule, cost control, and risk management.
• Foster clear communication across project teams and mentor staff.
• Recruitment and training support for staff.
