Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a New College Grad IT System Administrator to support and enhance mission-critical environments. You will monitor systems, automate tasks, and collaborate with global teams to ensure stability, security, and high performance across Linux/Windows servers.

Responsibilities include change management, capacity planning, and on-call support. A BS in CS and scripting (Shell, Python) are preferred; Ansible experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux or Windows server administration.
  • Automation experience with scripting languages (Shell, Python); Ansible preferred.
  • Basic understanding of network architectures, TCP/IP, name resolution, directory services, SAN/NAS, and enterprise backup environments.
  • Basic understanding of AI, machine learning, and AI-assisted operational tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day admin across server platforms and virtualization to keep systems stable and secure.
  • Monitor performance metrics, review logs, analyze trends, and take proactive actions to prevent incidents.
  • Implement changes through formal change management (planning, testing, documentation, rollback).
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for escalation and resolution.
  • Support operational reporting and address abnormalities; drive actions to reduce incidents.
  • Perform capacity planning, lifecycle refresh planning, patching/firmware management, and upgrades to sustain availability.
  • Participate in site emergency response / ERT bridge coordination as required.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule and respond to urgent issues per defined expectations.
  • Develop automation and tooling to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to improve ops, troubleshooting, and service delivery; identify AI/ML opportunities.

We are seeking an IT System Administrator to support and enhance mission-critical environments by monitoring system health, delivering lifecycle activities, managing incidents/problems, coordinating changes, and partnering with global teams and vendors to restore and improve service. You will also help drive automation and operational excellence through standardization, documentation, and proactive engineering.

Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day technical direction and administration across server platforms and virtualization to keep systems stable, secure, and performant.

Monitor system performance metrics, review log files, perform trend analysis, and take proactive actions to prevent incidents and reduce repeat issues.

Implement changes through a formal change management process (planning, risk/impact review, testing, communication, documentation, and rollback strategy).

Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for case escalation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

Support operational reporting and address abnormalities, risks, and passdown items; drive actions to reduce issue and incident counts.

Perform capacity planning, lifecycle refresh planning, patching/firmware management, and upgrades to sustain compliance and availability.

Participate in site emergency response / ERT bridge coordination as required to support restoration of services during critical events.

Participate in a rotational on-call schedule and respond to urgent issues following defined expectations.

Develop automation and tooling to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and raise operational quality.

Leverage AI-powered tools and intelligent automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, accelerate troubleshooting, and enhance service delivery. Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to incorporate AI, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities into infrastructure operations, monitoring, and support processes. Use AI-assisted analytics to proactively identify system risks, performance trends, and optimization opportunities.

BS Degree in Computer Science

Hands-on experience with Linux or Windows server administration.

Experience in automation using scripting languages like Shell and Python, along with configuration management tools like Ansible, is preferred.

Basic understanding of Network architectures, TCP/IP, name resolution, directory services, large enterprise SAN, NAS, and enterprise Backup environments.

Basic understanding of AI, machine learning, generative AI concepts, and AI-assisted operational tools.

Preferred Requirements:

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and leverage AI-driven insights for decision-making and problem resolution.

Willingness to attend meetings during non-business hours (up to one day weekly).

Experience in physically racking and cabling data center equipment.

Experience using AI-powered productivity, automation, or analytics tools to improve operational effectiveness.
