Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person experiences that empower kids to discover books for themselves. Taking place in schools, these Fairs are rooted in Scholastic’s mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids. They bring communities together and raise significant funds for schools.

We are seeking New Business Sales Representatives to help secure new opportunities and grow the Book Fair business. These full-time roles offer comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, discounts, 401k, and potential summers off. In addition to the base salary, there are incentives based on sales performance.

The candidate will achieve sales goals through effective sales and service strategies, supporting our mission to promote reading and lifelong learning, and demonstrating values of care and respect.

Job Overview: If you are passionate about education and reading, join Scholastic Book Fairs as a New Business Sales Representative to build relationships with schools, promote literacy, and support fundraising efforts.

Primary Objectives:

  • Prospecting: Research and identify potential school and district partners. Initiate outreach to decision-makers such as Principals and Administrators.
  • Lead Qualifications: Qualify prospects by understanding their needs and setting appointments.
  • Relationship Building: Establish rapport with educators, emphasizing the value of Scholastic Reading Events.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records and track progress in CRM systems.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work with the sales team to refine outreach strategies and stay informed about industry trends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Achieve event booking goals within assigned territories and through alternative channels.
  • Coordinate revenue-building activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances to meet goals.

Customer Focus:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, ensuring needs are met and feedback is gathered.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences and respond promptly to concerns.

Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with operations and other departments, sharing information and fostering teamwork.
  • Contribute to product and process improvements and build strong internal and external relationships.

Functional Expertise/Personal Effectiveness:

  • Support our mission and values, stay current with sales technologies, and handle shifting priorities effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and attend relevant events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, or related fields.
  • At least three years of successful sales experience, with leadership qualities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software.
  • Familiarity with children’s literature and school activities is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and marketing skills.
