Job Qualification

Essential Functions

• Work with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations to support the New Arrival Center (NAC) in accelerating the acquisition of the English language.
• Supervise the placement of all students in the NAC.
• Assist teachers in the NAC with implementing the Language Acquisition Curriculum.
• Track the progress of current and former NAC students.
• Monitor the NAC with data analysis.
• Mentor and observe NAC teachers and provide feedback.
• Model lessons in the classroom.
• Provide on‑going staff development training and assistance to NAC teachers in implementing instructional strategies in the classroom.
• Provide new NAC teacher and paraprofessional training.
• Work with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations on curriculum development.
• Work on assessment instruments for the NAC.
• Assist Director and Coordinators on staff development days.
• Work with ESL contacts to provide and coordinate materials.
• Assist with the implementation and supervision of summer school programs.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
