Job summary

Allina Health, a Minnesota-based not-for-profit health system, seeks a Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery to support diagnosis, treatment and consultations within physician-led teams. You will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, educate patients, and participate in program development with primary care and hospital teams.

Required are a Master’s degree and NP certification; preferred candidates include those with neurosurgery experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• New grads may be considered. Minimum 2 years experience in neurosurgery.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients as part of a physician/nurse team.
• Works in inpatient and outpatient settings and can practice independently or with a team.
• Educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.
• Completes comprehensive patient assessments and determines diagnosis and treatment.
• Orders and interprets diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
• Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and equipment.
• Conducts patient education for chronic illness or wellness care.
• Refers for specialty care when determined.
• Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
