Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey seeks a Neurosurgery Inpatient Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (RNFA/First Assist) to assist, monitor, and manage daily patient needs under physician supervision. The role performs standard PA/NP duties with neurosurgical teams across multiple campus sites (JSUMC, OUMC, RMC).

The position requires licensure as NP or PA, prescriptive authority per NJ law, NPI, board certification (AANP/ANCC), ACLS, and capability to obtain RNFA.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
• Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate).
• National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
• Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
• Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program.

Responsibilities

• The Neurosurgery Inpatient Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician.
• Performs the duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant according to customary and generally accepted medical standards.
• Multiple campus coverage (JSUMC, OUMC, and RMC).
• Weekends as Needed.
• Holiday Work As Needed.
• No On-Call Required.
