The ideal candidate holds IL APN/PA licensure, DEA registration, and a master’s degree in a neurosurgery specialty, plus first assist and BLS/CPR certifications.

Qualifications

• IL Advanced Practice licensure required; DEA license required (or pending).
• First assist certification for this neurosurgery role is required.
• Master’s level program completion in a neurology/neurosurgery specialty.

Responsibilities

• Daily assessment and management of neurosurgical inpatients.
• Postoperative patient management and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care with neurosurgeons, hospitalists, nursing and therapy teams.
• Evaluate acute changes and manage postoperative complications.
• Prescribe therapies under protocol and provide patient education.
• Participate in coverage for inpatient and ER consults with possible first‑assist duties.
• Maintain records, progress notes and ensure safe transitions of care.
• Promote high-quality patient experiences and adherence to standards.
