Job summary

UT Health Austin is seeking a Registered Nurse for its outpatient Neurosciences clinic in Austin, TX. You will provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, partnering with physicians, APPs, and staff to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and education for patients and families.

Qualifications

  • ADN required and RN license current in Texas.
  • BLS certification required.
  • One or more years of outpatient or clinical nursing experience.
  • Preferred BSN and ACLS certification.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our outpatient Neurosciences clinic, you'll provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. You'll partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative teams to coordinate care, educate patients and families, support clinical procedures, and ensure an exceptional patient experience from start to finish.

What You'll Do
Patient Care & Assessment
  • Conduct patient assessments and obtain medical histories
  • Develop and update individualized care plans
  • Monitor patient progress and collaborate on ongoing treatment
Medication & Treatment Management
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Monitor therapeutic response and identify adverse reactions
  • Reinforce medication adherence and treatment plans
  • Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, treatment options, and preventive care
  • Provide self-care guidance and ongoing support throughout the care journey
Clinical Support
  • Perform wound care, suture removal, and other clinical procedures
  • Assist providers with diagnostic testing and in-office procedures
  • Maintain a safe, sterile clinical environment
Care Coordination
  • Document care in the electronic health record
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and continuity of care
  • Collaborate across the interdisciplinary team to deliver seamless, patient-centered care
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One or more years of outpatient or clinical nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two or more years of clinical nursing experience
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
