Job summary

UT Health Austin's Neurosciences clinic seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and staff with direct patient care and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth clinic operations from check-in to follow-up. Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Record medical histories, vital signs, and other clinical information.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments under appropriate supervision.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory testing.
  • Support physicians during minor procedures and clinical interventions.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow.
  • Assist with insurance verification and patient inquiries; maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment.
  • Manage medical supplies and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant in our Neurosciences clinic, you'll support physicians and clinical staff by providing both direct patient care and administrative support that keeps our clinics running smoothly. You'll prepare patients for visits, assist with clinical procedures, coordinate care, and help ensure every patient receives an exceptional experience from arrival through follow-up.

What You'll Do

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Medical Assisting or related field
  • Two or more years of healthcare experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
