Job summary

Lutheran Hospital is seeking a Student Intern in Neuroscience Med Surg for PRN shifts (1-12 hours per week). The role pairs with a Registered Nurse to learn charting, time management and rapid assessment skills, while remaining in last year of nursing school.

The Student Intern trains as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, supporting with daily living activities, safe environment, and effective team communication.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred.
• Must be in last year of nursing school to be eligible.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
• Record patient data including vital signs and intake/output.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility aids.
• Support communication within the care team and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Follow infection control, PPE protocols and safety guidelines.
• Participate in performance improvement and risk management efforts.
