Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Manager II in the Bioengineering Department to oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with animals in a research setting.
  • Experience with non-human primates is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care and monitoring of non-human primates, including feeding and health checks.
  • Handle animals and perform behavioral conditioning and training for experiments.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and train students in surgical techniques.
  • Maintain animal medical files, logs, and health/behavior records.
  • Order supplies and manage inventory for animal care and lab operations.
  • Calibrate and clean laboratory equipment and support general lab tasks.
  • Coordinate onboarding and training of new lab members.
